What is Landcare Week?

Formed in 1989, originating in Victoria, Landcare (or Landcare week) has grown to become one of the largest volunteer movements in Australia.

People from all walks of life are involved and it has grown from groups of sustainable farmers and community volunteers resulting in thousands of people working together to solve local environmental issues.

Landcare Week - Forest and Trees

So What’s Landcare’s Goal?

Striving to help, Landcare tackles many issues in our local environments like land degradation from erosion, weed control and replanting of native vegetation. This movement has played a vital role in changing Australia’s approach to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental protection, conservation of land, waterways, coasts, biodiversity and landscapes.

Why’re we talking about it?

It’s a fantastic organisation and Quality Garden Supplies encourages anyone with a farming or land management interest to get involved. Some weeding tools that make weeding our local
environments easier include Burgon & Ball’s Mighty Pick, Burgon & Ball’s Lawn Weeding Knife, Burgon & Ball’s Short Handled Weed Slice, Wolf-Garten Planting Knife and Weed Extractor, Wolf-Garten Scuffle Hoe, and so much more! Check out the Rakes and Weeders category on our site for more.

Landcare groups include Bushcare, Coastcare and Junior Landcare donate their time, skills and expertise to benefit all Australians.

So if you can, grab a tool and find out how you can help!
