Description

Manutec Vermiculite is a magnesium rich, silicate mineral similar to mica. It is produced by high temperature treatment of vermiculite ore, which produces golden brown lightweight granules. It is sterile, non-toxic, incombustible, asbestos-free and easy to handle. Vermiculite aerates heavy clay soils and potting mixes.

Vermiculite is ideal for seed raising because the aeration properties combined with its water holding capacity makes it a superb medium for direct contact with the seeds. Large and small seeds can be raised in pure Vermiculite. Slower germinating seeds may be raised in a 50/50 mixture of Vermiculite and Peat.
Vermiculite can be used as a spoil improver, when applied to an outdoor seed bed it will give improved emergence.

It offers several unique properties which make it an ideal growing medium including:
Inorganic, inert and sterile;
Free from disease, weeds and insects;
Excellent aeration characteristics;
Facilitates re-wetting of mixes;
Slightly alkaline;
High water-holding capacity;
Insulates and reduces temperature changes; and
Holds nutrients in a form readily available for the plant.

Comes in a 5L bag.

Note: Vermiculite is not recommended for azaleas, rhododendrons and other acid loving plants.
